Comfort Keepers Receives Acquired Brain Injury Certification to Offer Expanded Caregiving Services

PLYMOUTH, MA – Comfort Keepers® has recently expanded its range of caregiving services by completing the Acquired Brain Injury Core Training for Providers Certification. A private in-home care agency that serves Cape Cod, Metro West and the South Shore region, Comfort Keepers provides companionship, personal care, light housekeeping and additional services for elderly clients and other individuals who need assistance with the activities of daily life.

The training qualifies Comfort Keepers to deliver care for those who have suffered brain injuries. It also prepares caregivers to help people manage the complex disabilities that may be caused by injury to the brain, including short- or long-term emotional trauma and changes in behavior or personality. Caregivers are now able to help clients and their loved ones understand the effects of brain injuries and how to better meet the needs of brain injury survivors. The certification was received through the Brain Injury and Statewide Specialized Community Services Department of the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission.

“Suffering a brain injury can dramatically alter a person’s life and how they are able to interact with their loved ones,” said Raquel Mullaney, area owner of Comfort Keepers. “By expanding our range of services to provide care for survivors of brain injuries, we will be able to help them live healthy, happy lives at home and provide relief and a helping hand for their families.”

Cheryl Terrill, Director of Human Resources and Training, was the first to receive the Acquired Brain Injury Certification in June, and soon all caregivers with Comfort Keepers will have completed the training. “We are committed to providing the best possible training for our caregivers,” said Mullaney, “and we are proud to be able to meet the needs of brain injury survivors with the same skill and quality care we deliver to all of our clients.”
